Frankfurt, 30 March 2022 - Bertrand Faure, Fund Manager of the Strategic European Silver Stars Fund, investing in European small and mid-caps, at the investment fund company Eric Sturdza Investments, sees the equity fund he manages well positioned for volatile times. Currently, the fund's cash exposure amounts to around 14 percent. The highest weighted sectors are consumer discretionary (around 31.5 percent), information technology (15.4 percent) as well as materials (12.7 percent). A significant number of the companies in which the fund has invested (10 out of 25) had a net liquidity position on their balance sheet at the end of 2021.

A negative scenario, with an escalating war in Ukraine and hence declining markets, is commented as follows by Bertrand Faure: "We are guided by fundamentals even in turbulent market phases. In this way, we can determine whether there is an overheating of the markets. We tend to see volatility as an opportunity to buy more quality stocks at a favorable price."

With this strategy Bertrand Faure had already performed well in past turbulent market phases. In 2020, when the markets collapsed due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Strategic European Silver Stars Fund was able to gain 28.6 percent, whilst its benchmark, the STOXX Europe 600 EUR NR index, lost 1.99 percent in value during the same period.
