Cavalier Vicenzi launches new e-commerce site targeting fast-growing German market

Piedmont - Premium Italian confectioner Cavalier Vicenzi has launched a new B2C and B2B e-commerce site to attract German customers, importers and distributors in a bid to meet the exponential growth in demand from German consumers following the success of its collaboration with Eataly in Munich.

Based in the UNESCO heritage area of Monferrato in Piedmont, Cavalier Vicenzi has been producing amaretti biscuits according to the same exclusive and traditional 18th century recipe since 1955. A leading example of excellence in Italian food, the company has been serving German tourists to the Langhe-Monferrato region renowned for its gastronomic traditions.

CEO Giulio Galansino explained, “Not only is there a huge demand from our loyal customers post-Covid, who want to be able to order our products directly to their homes, but our new e-commerce site will help new customers discover our heritage, our exquisite confectionary made with great skill, charm and using only the highest quality ingredients.”

Italian agri-food sector exports to Germany, the main outlet market, have shown 3.4% growth in the first quarter of 2022 alone, and a PWC study conducted in 2021 found the ‘new normal’ for shopping in Germany is to order groceries online, with 22% responders using only e-commerce sites and 82% intending to use online shopping going forward. Germany is Europe’s economic powerhouse and has enormous potential for digital sales of high quality produce.

Galansino further commented, ”Our Amaretti di Mombaruzzo macaroons are a soft biscuit produced mainly with almonds which are naturally gluten-free. Our products combine craftsmanship and sustainable technology faithful to the ancient original recipe to produce an exceptional and unforgettable taste.” The company’s quality standards are certified by numerous national and international awards and its products have been sold in Italy and abroad for more than half a century.

The Piedmont region receives 3.5 million German visitors every year who make up a third of all foreign tourists to Piedmont. The company’s first foray into the German market was through a partnership with the Eataly brand, which distributes high quality Italian food at a department store in Munich, and this has proved to be a great success. Consequently, Cavalier Vicenzi has taken the decision to build on this positive trend by targeting German retailers and distributors who want to take advantage of the growing demand for their confectionary via the newly launched German e-commerce site.

Cavalier Vicenzi’s new e-commerce website will serve both end-consumers as well as prospective German retailers and distributors.
